Introduction
GDF8 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and ***** tissues. This gene is thought to encode a secreted protein which negatively regulates skeletal muscle growth.
Description
Myostatin Human Recombinant produced in HEK cells is a single, glycosylated, polypeptide chain (Asn24-Ser375) containing a total of 360 amino acids, having a calculated molecular mass of 41.1kDa. Myostatin is fused to a 2 aa N-terminal linker and a 6 aa His tag at N-Terminus.

Formulation
Myostatin solution at a concentration of 0.25mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 8.0 and 20% (w/v) glycerol.
Stability
Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
