This enzyme is produced by inflammatory cells and hydrolyzes oxidised phospholipids in LDL. In the blood it is mainly associated with LDL and less than 20% is coupled to HDL. Expressed recombinantly with an N-terminal 8X-His tag and purified by chromatography. >95 percent pure by SDS-PAGE.
