Cell Type Characterization
Description	The Immortalized Human Primary Pancreatic cells are derived from Pancreatic β cells, an important component of pancreas which make up 65-80% of the cells in the islets of Langerhans. They are essential in blood glucose regulation by producing and secreting insulin, the critical hormone that regulates the body to reduce blood glucose.These cells are ideal models to provide insight into development of novel therapies for Type 1 diabetes and other pancreas related diseases.
Procedure Overview

Propagation	Use of PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow II medium available in ABM, Cat. No. TM002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999) to a final concentration of 10% and Penicillin/Streptomycin(G255). This cell line needs to be cultured in collagen coated flasks. Atmosphere: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO₂), 5%.
Quality Control	Real Time PCR was used to quantify Myc gene expression in immortalized cell line.
