Description	TrkB Stable T48 Cell Line expresses rat TrkB (Tropomyosin receptor kinase B) after TrkB plasmid was successfully transfected into SN56 cells and were selected in the presence of G418. TrkB is a subfamily of the tyrosine kinase family which includes TrkA and TrkC, in which it is the receptor for neurotrophins such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Researchers may use the TrkB Stable T48 Cell Line to screen for BDNF-like compounds that can activate pathways which includes mechanisms in which cerebellar neurons are rescued from programmed cell death, or reduces ischemic injury, or improves functional recovery and postinjury regeneration. The lack of TrkB has been associated with the neurodegenerative processes, and thus the cell line is a valuable tool to conduct related studies. abm has available the TrkA Stable T17 Cell Line (T3158), which can be used to screen NGF-like (nerve growth factor –like) compounds as well.
Procedure Overview
Recommended Seeding Density	Thaw entire contents into an appropriate T25 flask as specified in the Propagation instructions.
Applications	For Research Use Only
Over Expression	Rat TrkB receptor via transfection and G418 antibiotic selection
Propagation	Use of PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available from ABM (TM003). To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium to final concentration of 10% fetal bovine serum (TM999), 1 mM Sodium Pyruvate Solution(TM057), 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin (G255), and 300 mg/ml G418 (G271). Atmosphere: air: 95%, CO₂: 5%; Temperature: 37.0°C.
