Withaferin A is cell permeable and potent angiogenesis inhibitor from the family of withanolides. Withaferin A inhibits endothelial cells (HUVEC) sproutingin vitro (IC50=12nM) andin vivo. Withaferin A exhibits antitumor, anti-inflammatory, radiosesensitizing, and immunosuppressive properties. Our docking results obtained substantiate the hypothesis that Wthaferin Ahas the potential to inhibit the association of chaperone (Hsp90) to its co-chaperone (Cdc37) by disrupting the stability of attachment of Hsp90 to Cdc37. Conclusively our results strongly suggest that withaferin A is a potent anticancer agent as ascertained by its potent Hsp90-client modulating capability. Gliosesis is a biological process that occurs during injury repair in the central nervous system and is characterized by the overexpression of the intermediate filaments (IFs) glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and vimentinWithaferin Abinds to and down-regulates soluble vimentin and GFAP expression to cause cell cycle G/G arrest.Finally, Withaferin A displays neuronal regenerative properties.
