(+/-)- 1 – Aminocyclopentane- cis- 1,3- Dicarboxylic acid is also known as ACPD or cis ACPD. It is a potent NMDA agonist. It binds to the metamorphic glutamate receptor (mGluR) acting as a mGluR agonist. Experiments conducted to explore the function of the metabotropic excitatory amino acid receptor in the rat brain has demonstrated cis ACPD to be a potent convulsant.
