Description
The ViPrimePLUS Mycoplasma hominis qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of the Mycoplasma hominis genomes in clinical samples (e.g. genital swabs or fluids).
Mycoplasma hominis is a fastidious bacterium that lacks a cell wall, thus does not Gram stain. The small size of its genome makes it the second smallest organism with self-replicating ability. M. hominis generally exists as a normal flora in the genital tract. Being an opportunistic microorganism, infection in healthy individuals is usually asymptomatic. It is responsible for the urogenital infection that leads to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and postpartum fever in *****s, and systemic infections in neonates during vaginal delivery. Immunosuppressed patients have a higher risk of serious extragenital infection where the pathogen invades the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body.
