Description
The ViPrimePLUS Salmonella qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of all Salmonella species genomes in clinical (e.g. faeces), food or water samples.
Salmonella spp. are Gram negative bacteria which were divided into 2 species, i.e. S. enterica and S. bongori. They are gut pathogens and most of the time reside in silent in the intestine or gall bladder of many animals, and are intermittently shed in the faeces. Therefore, intake of contaminated food and poor hygiene practices are the main cause of infection in human. Salmonellosis are manifested in two conditions; 1) gastroenteritis which is a non-systemic intestinal infection leading to abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea and fever, and 2) enteric typhoid fever which is a systemic infection where pathogens replicates within cells in the reticuloendothelial system.
