Description
The ViPrimePLUS Dengue Virus subtypes 1, 2, 3, 4 RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Dengue Virus genomes in clinical samples (e.g. blood and plasma).
Dengue virus is an arthropod-borne RNA virus with 4 closely-related serotypes, i.e. DEN 1, 2, 3 and 4. Human infection by any of the serotypes causes dengue, which could develop into life-threatening Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Dengue Shock Syndrome. Prevalsence of the incidence is high in tropical and subtropical areas due to suitable breeding environment for Aedes mosquito, the common vector for the virus spread. Every year, there are about 100 million cases of dengue virus infection reported worldwide. Serological diagnosis with IgG and IgM is only applicable after 5 days of the infection when the antibodies are present. Since, the viral level is high within the first 5 days of the infection, direct viral detection is gaining stance in acute phase screening for rapid disease management. Thus, real time PCR test plays a major role in this area.
