Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Herpes Virus 7 qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Herpes Virus 7 genome in clinical samples (e.g. blood, saliva and transplants sample).
Human Herpes virus (HHV) is classified into 8 subtypes with each of them manifesting different disease implications. Human Herpes virus 7 (HHV7) is double-stranded DNA virus which is closely related to HHV6 genetically and biologically. It is now recognized as T-lymphotropic virus, alongside with HHV6, where it infects the CD4+ T cells and lowers the lymphocytes count. Primary infection often occurs in infancy and childhood. Source of transmission of the virus is via saliva contact or organ transplantation. It may cause skin conditions such as roseola infantum and exanthema subitum but less frequent than HHV6, and other febrile-induced complications. Real time PCR detection has been developed for quick HHV7 diagnosis.
