Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Papillomavirus 11 qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Papillomavirus 11 genome in clinical samples (e.g. genital fluids and swabs).
Human Papillomavirus is a double stranded DNA virus, classified in more than 100 subtypes. Genital HPV infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection. In the events of persistent infection, it could cause genital warts, recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (which can be passed to infants during birth) and cancer in the genital areas. Low risk HPV 6 and 11 are responsible for 90% of the genital warts cases. Without routine screening, very often these cancer cases are detected too late for non-invasive treatment.
