Description
The ViPrimePLUS Sin Nombre Hantavirus RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Sin Nombre Hantavirus genome in clinical samples (e.g. nasopharyngeal aspirate, throat swab and sputum).
Sin Nombre Hantaviruses (SNV) are enveloped viruses with three negative senses single stranded RNA segments designated S (small), M (medium) and L (large). SNV infections cause Hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS), which is also known as Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. SN virions enter the host cells by attaching to the cellular receptors and by subsequent endocytosis. The virions are believed to form by association of nucleocapsids with glycoproteins embedded in the Golgi membranes, followed by budding into the Golgi cisternae. Nascent virions can then be transported in secretory vesicles to be released by exocytosis to the plasma membrane. The common symptoms of HCPS include fever, headache, cough, vomiting or nausea, dyspnea, tachypnea and thrombocytopenia. HCPS is seen mainly in *****s with a fatality rate of 38%.
