Description
The ViPrimePLUS Vesivirus_2117 RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Vesivirus_2117 genome in CHO cell culture, and bioreactors raw materials, process material, drug substances and fluids.
Vesivirus_2117 is a single-stranded RNA virus, categorized under the Caliciviridae family and Vesivirus genus. It is a common contaminant in biopharmaceutical industries which uses Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line. Molecular assays such as PCR are routinely used for screening and identification of any viral agents and contamination throughout the manufacturing process. In the event where once the cell banks are contaminated, major losses are incurred from the plant shutdown and decontamination procedures. Although the virus is a major nuisance in bioreactors process, there is no known evidence of its potential human or veterinary threat.
