Description
The ViPrimePLUS Duck Hepatitis B Virus qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Duck Hepatitis B Virus genome in tissue and serum samples.
Duck Hepatitis B Virus (DHBV) is a double stranded DNA virus which causes duck hepatitis disease. The virus is related to human Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) but not identical. Infection of the virus causes chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver. It is thought that the liver damage is due to the host immune response reacting against the viral antigens, i.e. the virus surface antigen (DHBsAg) and the virus core antigen (DHBcAg). Primary transmission is from mother to the embryo. Often, DHBV is often used as the base to study the use of vaccines and prophylactic treatment for individuals with high risk of HBV infection.
