A murine monoclonal antibody to an epitope on C7 protein.

This monoclonal antibody was raised against purified human C. It is specific for an Antigen expressed on native C7 but not expressed in MAC. It will inhibit the lysis of EA and will not detect membrane bound MAC.

Quidel's C7 monoclonal antibody has been used in a variety of experimental techniques including EIA, Western Blot, and RIA

The specificity of the monoclonal antibody for the C7 protein was established by ELISA and radioimmunoassay (RIA). Confirmation of specificity was achieved by inhibition of C7 binding in a hemolytic assay. Approximately 6.5 ng of the anti-human C7 antibody was shown to inhibit the lysis of antibody-coated sheep erythrocytes in an assay designed to measure specific C7 hemolytic activity. The assay utilized hemolytically active C7 and normal human serum which had been immunochemically depleted of C7.
